Deploying a Website on the World Wide Web

The portfolio Web project has so far been accomplished on your personal computer. In this presentation we present the steps necessary to deploy this project to the World Wide Web. There are three initial steps that must be taken just once in preparation. After that the process will be one of modifying pages on the local version of the portfolio website and transferring changed files to the server.

The three four preparatory steps are:

• Acquire a domain name
• Obtain an account with a company that provides website hosting service (a server)
• Download and install an FTP program that will allow for uploading the portfolio website on a personal computer to the server
• Upload the first version of the portfolio to the account on the server.
